Turbo LSx Jaguar XJ blows away the quarter mile
Custom
At Irwindale Drag Strip this lovingly restored Series I Jaguar XJ flexes some Anglo-American muscle. Good ol’ Chevy power makes a handy substitute for that cantankerous British reliability. Especially when that LSx engine gets stroked out, and a 76mm turbo on top, good for a cool 700 rear-wheel horsepower.
A fast Jaguar—and, finally, a reliable Jaguar! And at the 1/8th-mile Irwindale track, the car ran a 6.88-second time at over 100mph.
The best part about this Jag is that it looks stock—even its chrome dog-dish wheels are meticulously preserved. The interior preserves all of that wood-and-leather that characterizes these cool 70s luxoboats. And now it’s got sleeper firepower to back it up.
