Some of GM’s most potent modern engines are made here

Located in Buffalo, NY, the Tonawanda Engine plant sits across from the beautiful Niagara River, and employs a diverse workforce to produce award winning engines for General Motors’ most desired products.

In the video above, Hot Rod magazine drove a brand-new 2016 Camaro SS to the GM Tonawanda engine plant to see how an LT1 engine is made.

The plant produces the following engines for GM:

  • Ecotec 2.0L Turbo/2.5L – Chevrolet Malibu & Impala, Buick Regal & Cadillac ATS & CTS
  • EcoTec3 4.3L V6, 5.3L V8 & 6.2L V8 – Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Pickup Trucks and Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban, Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon & Yukon Denali SUVs
  • 6.2L LT1 V8 for the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (Ward’s Automotive 10 Best Engine List for second consecutive year!)
  • 6.2L LT4 V8 for the 2015 Corvette Z06 and 2016 Cadillac CTS-V
