2016 COPO Camaro VIN001 sells for $300,000 at Barrett-Jackson

News
Last night at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, lot #3005, the all-new 2016 COPO Camaro VIN001, raised an impressive $300,000 to benefit the United Way.
The COPO is a powerful, purpose-built Camaro designed to dominate in NHRA Stock Eliminator drag racing. The COPO Camaro legacy continues with an all-new sixth-generation version. This modern-looking machine infuses legendary COPO performance with the modern, lighter and stronger design of the 2016 Camaro. Only 69 will be produced.
This COPO was introduced in November at the SEMA Show and includes a personalized look created by NHRA Funny Car driver Courtney Force. It features a Red Hot exterior color with Courtney Force-signature graphics and red-accented grille trim.
The car’s exterior cues also include wheelie bars and a parachute, along with Goodyear racing tires. Under its carbon-fiber high-rise hood is a 350 racing engine with a Whipple 2.9-liter supercharger.
Inside is a chrome-moly roll cage, lightweight racing bucket seats personalized with the COPO logo and Courtney Force’s signature, five-point safety harnesses and a floor-mounted shifter for the THM-350 automatic transmission. The instrument panel contains racing gauges and a competition switch panel.
All proceeds will benefit United Way, which improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.
