2017 Camaro ZL1 prototype looks ready to eat small children, slay Mustangs

News
While everyone in the automotive world is currently in Frankfurt for the Motor Show, Chevy is taking to the grueling Nurburgring Nordschleife, getting in a few hot laps of testing for its upcoming 2017 Camaro ZL1.
Even under the dizzying camouflage wrap you can clearly see this is no ordinary 6th-generation Camaro, featuring a more pronounced front bumper and grille, new double spoke wheels, and a larger rear spoiler. The new ZL1 is looking mighty aggressive and ready to take on its Shelby Mustang rivals.
Larger exhaust tips and more pronounced rocker panels also lend to the muscular ZL1 package.
This particular ZL1 prototype appears to have a hood-mounted heat extractor similar to the C7 Corvette and Cadillac CTS-V, and we’re quite confident in stating you’ll see this make it to production models.
Under the hood expect the 2017 ZL1 to feature a version of the 6.2L supercharged V8 found in the CTS-V and Corvette Z06. Look for a 2016 Detroit Auto Show debut, with production commencing summer 2016.
